well i got to the range this morning for a company shoot fest, all of our narcotics agents and detectives.......
the course of fire for the patrol rifle section was a series of stakes placed at the 25 yrd, 50 yrd, 75 yrd and 100 yrd marks.....
the stakes were 3-4 feet tall and a clay pidgeon was duct taped to the top of the stake.....
each shooter was issued 20 rnds to shoot their four targets.....
each shooter was timed ......
I shot mine with four rounds in 10.3 seconds.......the next best was a 10.40 (and he used my rifle) the department sniper came out with his 700 and did it in 28.? seconds.......the three of us were the only ones to break all of the clays..... the carbines with the holo sights did not fare very well after the 25 yrd mark....... the pictures were before thenarcs showed up.....
the second course of fire was with the hand gun, I couldn't get pictures of it because they built a plywood wall across the 25 yard line with an offset doorway/wall/shooting barricade....
the course of fire for this was 14 targets(unknown number until you engage them) set up in three stages with reactive steel plate silloettes.
the first stage had several staggared targets and had to be shot with both strong and off hand sides of the barricade wall....
the second stage had a wall with two 14 inch square holes, one was cut in the bottom on the ground and the other about 10 feet high with a step ladder next to it.......some of the targets were set up so you could only see them from either position but not both.... also one target was set up behind a 55 gal drum with only 3-4 inches of the side of it showing( this one was missed by most)
third stage was a wall with a hole in the middle and several targets there.......
this was scorred by number of hits, time taken , and rounds used
I came in third place on this one, I tied with the other two on all target knocked down, but I took a little more time , but I used less bullets...
really a cool job, set up by our awsome range masters over here..... they are planning more of this for the future with some crazy twists......
I asked if we could use blow pops instead of clay pidgeons and nearly got run outta there by the rest of theguys when the range masters considered it a good idea...... good times .. well here are a few pics to keep you happy of me , my armory hat, the rifle and the clay rifle range....
