Public schools here in Florida are going to use taxpayer money to give out Mexican diplomas.





FORT PIERCE — Mexico and the St. Lucie County School District are partnering to allow adults who speak Spanish but little to no English to earn a Mexican high school diploma at a county school.

“Nothing but positive news can happen as a result of this,” Schools Superintendent Michael Lannon said Tuesday.

The district will receive 300 Spanish language textbooks about world history, literature, geography, science and mathematics to be used at Chester A. Moore Elementary School, Port St. Lucie High School, Oak Hammock K-8 School, Forest Grove Middle School and Palm Pointe Educational Research School at Tradition.

Most schools were chosen because they have a higher percentage of Hispanic students than others. Port St. Lucie High was selected because next school year it will offer an International Baccalaureate diploma.

Details of the partnership will be explained at a Monday news conference at the school district’s office. The consul general of Mexico in Miami, Ambassador Juan Miguel Gutierrez Tinoco, will attend.

The district’s Hispanic Advisory Council, a group of mostly Hispanic community leaders, suggested the partnership as a way to halt generational poverty by making sure parents have an education.

“Our goal is to reach the parents on their level so that they can help their children,” said council member Linda Tapia. “If anything, it would give parents pride and self-respect.”

District staff would teach parents at a cost born by the district and would learn the English language while earning their Mexican high school diploma.

While the program benefits adults, officials hope to create a sister school with Mexico that would help students by exposing them to different cultures, district officials said.

Not to jack the thread, good read by the way..talk about getting too far out there..

but this job I applied for, wouldnt hire me even though I'm well more than qualifed, because I dont speak spanish.. you wanna talk about ticked/upset? oh boy, I am.

if they can learn why not make them learn English! this country is so screwed with all the wimpy politicians
out there, I am surprised we don't subsidize trips across the border for illegal immigrants!

TS don't even get me going on that topic. all i can say about that is we beat their ass's over 300 years ago on the plains of abraham. we (being the nice guys we are) allowed them to stay. sad to say but we have been paying for it ever since. just my two cents again but i feel the natives should have more say in this country than the french, but what do i know.

I recently saw somewhere that caucasians will be a minority in 2021 or thereabouts. Do you think my grandchildren will have the opportunity to learn English in school?

It gets worse from here. Congress is based on population. That means increased reprensentation...on the Socialist side. Historically, Mexicans are Socialists...Mexico City is where Leonid Trotsky escaped to when he was expelled out of the Bolshevik Party, and out of the Soviet Union.

Are you kidding me?? This makes my blood boil. First of all, even before we get to the Mexican Diploma issue, Saint Lucie County has a budget shortfall of 71 million dollars over the next two years. They are going to cut a lot of services and are talking of getting rid of a lot of police and emergency workers. Foreclosures in St. Lucie County are among the highest in the country. Now the school board there wants to take taxpayer money and grant Mexican diplomas to Mexicans that can't speak English. Teachers are very poorly paid, and American kids have a terrible graduation rate. The whole idea is outrageous.

Then, the heart of the matter, wtf are we teaching Mexicans for? They want diplomas, stay in school in friggin Mexico. Go back. They are here illegaly, and the government won't prosecute them, but now the schhool board wants to reward them? We are being overrun here and no one in Washington gives a rats ass.

This pisses me off beyond belief. I even sent the story to Lou Dobbs today.

If you have a child in the Texas school system they will have to take two years of Spanish in high school, minimum.
