Looks like the heat has hit here as it was 104 in Glendale, AZ yesterday (where I live) the hottest spot in the US! I have a range trip planned for Sunday to try out some 40 grain VMAX over some AA2200 for my old/new SPS Varmint.

PD season opens June 16 here so I am going to pull my ammo boxes off the shelf for the various rifles I want to take and do a round on my loaded stuff. I suspect I will need to do some more 20 Tactical case forming and I know that I shot one of the 204's quite a bit last time I was out.

Luckily I have about 1500 pieces of fully prepped 204 if I have to load more of it and my supply of 20 caliber DANZAC coated Sierras is pretty good.

Did my inventory this morning on the varmint ammo supply. Looks like my 204 Ruger ammo is GTG for all three rifles. The 223 stuff was certainly adequate. I've got about 200 rounds for each rifle which at the number of shots I get will last many trips.

The most I've ever fired was 134 rounds in one day. It is amazing how many shots you get when you hunt alone and don't have any impatient partners that want to "move" on. :nt:

The 20 Tactical boxes were a tad light when I checked them out. I'm afraid 64 rounds just is not going to cut it so today I'll fire up the PACT dispenser and start in on 200 or so. I've got about 300 pieces of prepped and primed brass so it will be merely a matter of dispensing the powder and seating the bullet. Definitely the lazy way to do it.

Well I set out after lunch to do some of the 500+ pieces of .223 I just got done tumbling and the decapper rod broke! I went into a tangent of curse words for sure. Guess I'll have to give Lee a call tomorrow. Atleast I know I'll get good CS.

Started this morning on loading up all of my lake city .308 brass and just finished. Did the testing yesterday and found the sweet load for this brass, so I loaded up all of it.

310 rounds, with the following recipe -

LC87 brass.
41.5g Win748
168g Nosler HPBT
Winchester Large Rifle primer.
OAL = 2.800"

Posted Image

Now I got several thousand commercial .308 cases to start working on, and are ready to load. Some of them will use some 150g FMJ bullets I have, but the majority will use the 168g noslers I just loaded into the LC brass. From my testing yesterday, I am going to go with 41.5g of AA2230-C on the 168g bullets (Extremely accurate), and 43g of AA2230-C for the 150g FMJ bullets and magnum primers on both.

Big day at the bench planned. I am DE-MOLYING about 2000 bullets as I had done them years ago and have decided to go a different route. Unfortunately some are only 100 to 150 of a type and they take as long as 500 do to in the tumbler. At least I can mix up some small batches and sort them later as 50 grainers sure don't look like 69 grain SMK's!!

Also I need to clean up the 20 Tactical rounds I loaded and get a pic for the Bullet Porn thread along with some for my thread on the SPS I am working with in the Long Gun Forum.

(Only 108 or so here today!!! )

Got 200 military rounds of 223 sized, deprimed, trimmed and swaged. Everything but removed the crimp. I got about 300 more to do.

I finished loading all my onhand bullets... I worked a bunch of remington brass and primed it and decided to mess with some of my lake city.. I decapped, trimmed , chamfered, and primed it... I was very happily suprized... I thought that priming was going to be an issue... I beveled a few cases and it lossened them up too much so I tried it with out working the crimp... They were just fine...." now to figure out what bullets and powder to get for the next batch...

I think I would like to make a bunch of 55 gr something or anothers.... But I don't want full metal jackets...

Went out earlier to crank out some test loads for the 700 SPS 308 but the battery in my scale is dead. And it was hotter than two rats fuzzin in a wool sock. Gonna wait on the sun to go down, change the battery and load up some 150gr Nosler BT's, 155gr A-Max's and some 168gr Hornady HPBT's. All three with test loads of BLC(2), Reloader 15, and H-335.

I should probably just save some trouble and go with straight H-335, it hasn't let me down yet

Worked up a load with the 55 gr. Gamekings I just got, although it wasn't much work...hit a good group on the 1st try, wish I was always that lucky :thumb:

Loaded up 50 of those and prepped about 200 brass.

I am almost sore from my marathon week of 308 reloading, but I have almost ran out of bullets now. I think I am finished except for one final batch of Barnes X TSX tipped 180g bullets I picked up for the 308, but I still need to test loads for those.

I will post pics in the bullet porn thread.

OK I primed the of the different brands of Military brass I had and they all worked. That's about 500 rounds of stuff I'm not going to have to use a primer swage on. That just cut my time in half! you just made my day stachmodog. If you were a woman I would kiss you on the mouth.

Looks like today is just file some chronograph charts and head out to the range later to burn up some 9 MM that has been setting on the shelf for 15 years. Have to try out the new springs in my Steel Challenge pistol.

I cleaned the Bench yesterday to get it ready for loading some 6x45. After that I loaded about 30 rounds of 223 and tested them out, found out that the load needed some tweaking. So...back to the drawing board, I loaded 30 more rounds of 223 and when the weather breaks, I will try them out.

I have been using the Hornady AP Press and I love it! I almost get carried away and load more than planned.

I also loaded 3 different batches of 10 of the .308 and 6.8 to try out.

Does this ever end? I think I am hooked!
