So I am getting gas the other day on my way down to ATL. I get the pump started and run into the store to get a Dew for the road. I come back out open the drivers door and put the drink in the cup holder. While I have the door open and my head in the car I hear "hey buddy can you help me out" It voice was not loud so I knew it was close, I look up at the same time I put my hand on my pistol out of caution. Gas station has had some drug events in the past so I was being carefull. I look up over the door and dont see anybody close enough to have made the statment and turn around towards to tailgate to see a guy standing between me and the pump. The fact that he got that close tells me that I was not quite as aware of my surrounds as I thought I was, lessonn learned. I turned my body so that my pistol was in the corner of the door but I could still draw if things went south. I look him in the eye and realize he is standing there 2 feet from an operating gas pump with a lit cigarette hanging out of his mouth. My first words were "hey dude I am pumping gas here and you are smoking a cigarette what the hell are you trying to do." He stepped off and put the cigarette out. Ends up he just had a flat tire and a short tire tool and could not break the tourqe on the lugnuts.

Lessons learned:

1. Look around constantly. Dont just move your head, but make note of what is happeneing, where it is happeneing, and how fast it can get to you.

2. Even though sombody may not be trying to endanger you life, they may be doing it any way.

3. Never under estimate the things people will do with out thinking of how dangerous it is. It could effect more than just them.

I don't think it is paranioa,

I think it is alertness, being aware of genuine dangers that surround us. If more people were alert, there would be less "accidents"

Using the word "Accident" ise just a nice way of saying "negligence," if you ask me.

There are no real "accidents"

I don't distrust the new vaccine, but I don't trust it either. I don't get the flu and never had a flu shot, so I see no reason to get this one. Besides, too many things that were deemed safe by the government and scientists in the past have turned out to be very dangerous. I wonder if they don't do a risk analysis and see what the potential loss with and without a vaccine would be. Then they make a decision for us for our "better interest" without giving us all the facts. So they did some fancy math and decided that without the vaccine x-number of people could die. With the vaccine x-number of people will likely die or become cripple. Cripple is still living so they decide that for our own good they would rather a percentage of people become cripple than to risk a few dying from the flu.

There arent as many fumes as you think.

Its not as dangerous as you think.

Most other states don't have those fancy overpriced vapor recovery nozzles that you have in CA. Most of the time when I fill up in the SE I can see the fumes by the nozzle while its filling.
