Ok what are the plus and minesses to a stanliss kit like this

Stainless has less tensile strength than carbon steel. More apt to break on hard impact. That said, the lower components really don't really run much of that risk other than the hammer.

Likely of more importance will be the precision and tolerances by the manufacturer, of whom I can't see on the ad.


Price is good though. Might be worth trying on a plinker for an evaluation of assembly and shooting. Just be sure to hold onto an older hammer for insurance.


You know, I wish just one lpk manufacturer had the sense to offer kits without the stupid hard plastic grip we all replace, or a good grip manufacturer would sell an add on kit with theirs.

I agree with you on the grip, but it is a 50 cent part for them to throw in.

I think the grip should be optional. It would cut down costs because a lot of people would not opt for the grip.

That's not bad, but hammer and disconnector are too generic to leave out of it. Not like there are many custom versions of those two parts to warrant not having them in the kit. Also it has the trigger pins and springs for a milspec trigger. If you add a custom trigger those parts are wasted.


I'd like to see these kinds of options for lpk's: 1) Standard; 2) Just missing the grip; 3) Missing the grip, trigger guard, and trigger parts.


Or at least put a darn recycling symbol on those hard plastic jobs so we can feel eco-friendly when we give them the toss!

I have no dealings with the airsoft types. That's not accidental either.

I had a MIAD before I even bought my LPK. I wish I could get a straight trigger, like the chip mccormick, but that's the only one i've ever seen and I plan on getting an RRA 2stage next week. That stainless is nice, but I'd rather see it all stainless, take downs and not blacked out hammer/trigger pins, but my next build is gonna be a sweet 24" plus bull barrel longrange monster running mk262 clone ammo only so a single stage isn't going to cut it.

Taking the paint off the ends of the hammer/trigger pins shouldn't be hard, but that still leaves you with black takedowns. DPMS offers some matte chrome parts, but I've never seen takedown pins line that.

Of note is Tactical Innovation billet lowers that come with STBA (Stainless Trigger & Bushing Assembly)

I have two of these LPK's and they seem good some far.... the ends of the pins in mine are NOT blackened out.
