Most state parks that have a range are "supervised" ranges, meaning they have a ranger there. you will need eithr a day-pass or an annual pass. They are not pricey.
The rules are fairly strict regarding rapid fire... no more than three shots fired "rapidly."
The rangers are generally friendly, but they don't put up with any horse play. A long time ago, the ranges were unsupervised, and there was always trash eveywhere, and idiots would show up blasting away unsafely.
You can only shoot at paper targets, but they also allow you to shoot at clay pidgeons laid out on the back-stop.
