Springfield Lightweight Operator Champion.

I like the option of mounting a light on my pistol. With the new job I am doing some traveling and take my pistol with me when I dont have to jack with airport crap. So I have been looking for a replacement for my Para LTC. I have finally had it with Para-USA and will be trading it off as soon as it is returned to me by thier outstanding "Gold Mediallion" service. I dont have the budget to go with the Wilson that I really want at this point so I have been looking for one of these springers. I have been told by one gun shop (owned by Ronnie Barrett) good luck. I visited my regular shop today and got the same answer. I was told that not only were the Operator Champions rare, but several Springfiled models are on back order.

It seems that Gunbroker has 3 listed right now but I am not really keen on the idea of buying a gun for EDC without having hands on first. Any body know of another Commander sized 1911 with rails. Please omit Kimber as they really dont feel right in my hands. I cant tell you why but I just dont get a warm and fuzzy when I hold them like other 1911s.

Could have sworn one of the Sportsman's Warehouses I was in today had one, seems like they had 7-10 different Springfield 1911's with the majority of em being the different short ones instead of the full sized ones.

I saw a VERY nice railed Nighthawk Commander length gun at a shop the other day. Just a bit more expensive, but it sure was pretty.

Ok, maybe more than a bit. One was stainless with stag grips, and it had a hang tag on it for $2250-ish, another was blued and had a tag of $2100-ish.

Well to some folks that might be just a bit. Not so much for me though.

If the budget allowed it I would be in a Nighthawk, Wilson, or other custom gun. Right now I can only look and drool though.
