I have been considering purchasing a Taurus PT92/100. Does anyone have any information good or bad as to the quality of this sidearm.
I have the PT100 and its a good gun. Ive never had a misfire. Last time I went shooting it failed to lock back on one empty mags though, but just once.
As far as the finish, its not perfect, but its pretty nice.
I worked with a guy who carried a PT92 as a duty pistol. He loved it, and he should have, he could put every round into the same hole, with almost boring regularity. I'm not sure about all of them, and I won't talk about other Taurus products (my mother said if you can't say anything nice...), but his PT92 was well worth whatever he paid for it.
I've seen too many problems with Taurus products to trust them.
Seems either they're good or REALLY bad. YMMV, and likely does.
bc
My experience with that model taurus is watching former co-workers during quals. Some of them ran OK, others were jamomatics. Worked with the same dude Pepper did with the PT92 that did the one-ragged hole routine. His gun ran fine every time. He did have the rear sight bust when the gun got dropped on the office floor. It was an older gun, with the sights integral with the slide like on the old-school berettas, IIRC.
The PT92 is probably the best gun Taurus makes as it's autoloaders go. Question though - why get the taurus instead of a used Beretta?
92's are great for the money
Mine was fine for many years. When I got my Sigs, I sold it to a friend. No need for me to keep it around.
