AR15 Armory.com _ The Home Brew forum (Reloading) _ Super heavy 9x25 180 xtp loads

I was messing around with Quickload a day ago and tried a 180 xtp load with lil gun. The results on the screen were impressive 180 xtp at 1250 fps, so I loaded some up and wow what a cool load!!!!!

This is the .357 XTP bullet loaded with 13.5 gr of Lil gun 2.260 oal , yes it is a compressed load, yes the bore size is .355

I am currently getting 1247 avg at the moment in my lone wolf glock 20 4.6in barrel. No significant signs of

over pressure really.gif .

600 ft/lbs with a better sectional density compared to the .40 XTP 180gr.

Im gonna test expansion next,

It had a very different recoil impulse than the 10mm xtp's seemed alot easier to control on doubles.

More to come!!

That's the first time I've ever seen a 180 grain bullet paired up with the 9x25 Dillon. The round was developed around the 115 grain bullet.

Interesting experiment, to say the least. I've pretty much stuck with 115 grain bullets in my loading for the 9x25, since I have lots of data for that weight.

You know This Quickload program lets you mess with all sorts of different variables. Its alot cheaper than buy some, load some, shoot some method ive been using for years. It's a great tool.

Im up right around 1300 fps now with lil gun, I slugged the bore and it was a little larger than I thought,

Im gonna dissect the 147bt xtp and the 180 xtp to look at the difference in jacket thickness to see if I

can't design a 180 bt that may be more appropriate for the velocity/ expansion range Im running. I like

to make bullets!! smile.gif

I feel the 180 loading just gives a little more life (and usefulness) to a very obscure but addictive

cartridge. This may make an awesome SD load in the G-29, just have to deal with the over

penetration issue. thumb.gif
