Use a good brand of carnauba-based car wax on your handguns! You won't have to find a "freckled" piece again!

The gold standard for this is a product called Renaissance Wax which is a museum grade finish protectant. It's a little pricey BUT a small can lasts a VERY LONG time. It's available at Midway and Brownells. You can also Google it.
