AR15 Armory.com _ Motorcycle Rally _ new splat bike.

i'd been drooling over one of these for quite a while and bit the bullet today and picked one up. i got a screaming deal to boot. i traded my SV1000s in on a 2009 Honda CBR600RR this afternoon. right as i was leaving the bike shop around 5pm it opened up and downpoured so the bike is all waterspotted and looks like crap tonight. i'll take some daylight pictures tomorrow if i have time. i rode it home from the shop and picked up the other half and we headed off to dan's house and recruited him and his wife. we all rode out to town for a decent dinner so it was dark by the time i got home. this puppy purrs like crazy! wet roads and brand new tires aren't a good mix so i didn't really tear into it at all, but it redlines at 15,000 and at 7,000 it is just beginning to get fun. really.gif it'll do the speed limit in first. smile.gif

this weekend looks nice, so some pics from the parkway should be forthcoming. wink.gif

this is all i have for now...

i had fun with the sv while it lasted but i was ready to move back to an I4.

AWESOME!!! Now post up at GSB. I'm doing a track day in a few weeks, come down and put it to the test.

Your bike does look nice. Congrats.

Nice bike! Looks fun. I used to have a GSXR 750. Silly fast. My CB 919 is a bit more tame and more comfy too. It also doesn't attract the attention of po po. I had to get bar risers for the GSXR 750 just to see where I was going. I couldn't crank my neck back enough to see. laugh.gif

Well, you know that I'm a bit disappointed, but then again.........I'm old.
If I were half my age (read about your age) I might have done the same thing.

I hope that it is all that you envisioned. And have fun on the parkway!

OK Stu I got to tell ya about a friend of my son who has a bike like that.
Last week I was watching him do stunts on his bike and he did something that floored me….

After doing the usual front wheel stand and standing on the seat doing a wheelie he put his kick stand down while still moving then hit the break and did a hand stand off the handlebars THEN a back-flip landing on his feet in front of the now parked bike.. blink.gif

I was impressed,,, I’ll try to find a video of it..

that would be cool to see. thumb.gif i can't do any stunts except riding a wheelie and skiing on the side. heck, i haven't even had the front wheel off the ground yet.

i finally got a pic in the daylight.

all in all it is not about speed unless you are on the drag strip. the sv650 is so much lighter than the 1000 and that makes a big difference. the 1k is a grunt monster and a wheelie machine for sure but the weight did not impress me much. this 600 is so much lighter, so much more nimble in the corners that the lack of "umph" doesn't seem to matter much. you have to wring it out a little more, it's happy spot is between between 8 and 11k rpms where the SV was happy around 5k. i haven't taken it any higher than that till i get the break-in period and first oil change done. the higher pegs and lower seating position makes it hug really damn good in the curves. i made about 8 passes over the mountain today; starting off VERY gingerly letting the tires get scrubbed in a little at a time progressively pushing it a little lower each pass. traffic was kinda high so i never got to make a clean pass without interuption but i bumped my knees off the pavement a few times and i wasn't even hanging off agressively or trying to grind. i am impressed by how smooth the thing is. the SV vibrated pretty hard but this thing is like a sewing machine. i scrubbed the tire all the way off the side on the right, and i've got about 1/8" or less on the left still to go but i've always been bad cornering on the left side and i've never ridden on battle-axe's before so i'm a bit leery still. i need to set my sag and lighten the rebound in the front a little but other than that i'm 100% happy. smile.gif

i pulled over for a nicotine break on rt 130 and snapped a single pic. i'll get more later.

eh, i'm 'bout done with the truck. i was really wanting a 6" lift but it makes it illegal b/c it's too high, i checked. i have enough problems with tickets as it is, no need to press the issue. laugh.gif

Super sweet scooter, Stu. I likes it. Love those Hondas. One of the most solid sportbike engines going. Congrats, bro. thumb.gif

My son’s buddy is on the white bike and he does the flip off the handlebars on the very last part of the "Ride For The Mind 09 Video" (at 02:58 on the video) he put his kick stand down while still moving then hit the break and did a hand stand off the handlebars THEN a back-flip landing on his feet in front of the now parked bike crazy… blink.gif

There are a few other videos on the site where he does the same trick.

Another at 01:33 on the third video down. (SquidWheelies Promotional Video)

the vids won't work right now. there is a storm passing through. i'll hit them from work tomorrow. thumb.gif

i think one of those guys posts on 600rr.net if i am not mistaken.

Posted by: hsracer201 August 5th 2009 3:40 AM

silly post, but whatever. i got some swingarm sliders today so when i bin it in the twisties it'll hopefully reduce the damage a little. yes, it's dirty, i drove it home in the rain day before yesterday and my driveway is almost a mile long with mud and gravel.

i still gotta get a pipe, but i think i'll try to pay it off first instead of dumping a few grand into modding it.

note the blue steak on the tire edge. hell yeah! really.gif no freaking chicken stips on this bike. smile.gif

Yeah buddy! Nothing like scuffing and ruffing the edges. Now just grind the feelers on the pegs to points. wink.gif

Crap I dont know how I missed this thread. Nice Ride Stu. I'm not a fan of 600s on the street, but I really like the direction Honda has been going. From what I've read the power is much more usable than it used to be.

ETA: Stop posing around town and lean that thing, would you? animlol.gif

Posted by: Sticks August 26th 2009 1:57 AM

hers one of Stu's bike leaning, Not sure whwere Stu is though laugh.gif

Just had too Stu. Just about cry every time I see that photo. Been there done that smile.gif
