Hello it's me again with a new question. Next year I will start hunting deer. I hunt in the woods and here in austria it is possibel to encounter wildboar. I am planing to use my smith and wesson 610 as an buck up weapon. Which 10mm ball or hard cast load would be suitable for boar defense. Here in my country i can get everthing from the major us companies like, federal, winchester, hornady and remington. I have also found an importer which can order me some corbon or double tapp rounds.


I would be pleasing hearing some tipps.

If you are looking for "boar fodder" look to either Double Tap for hardcast bullet loads or Jacketed Hollow Point loads. You could also look into Buffalo Bore for their "smoking hot" 180-grain JHP ammunition.

Thx for the infos. I will check out if I can import the buffallo bore bullets here in austria. The double tapp rounds can be imported. Which double tap load woul you recomend? Somethin the 180 or 200 grain range?

Hello, Agent00; DoubleTap also has a 230 grain hardcast lead bullets (with gas-check rings). I've known of a number of folk who used that bullet for hunting boar. [In my locale some of the wild hogs are in excess of 220kg.]--Patrice.

According to Mike McNett of Double Tap about his 230 grain hardcast bullet:

The heaviest and deepest penetrating 10mm in existence! This hardcast Wide Flat Nose Gas - Checked bullet will not deform on impact, and will create a large deep wound channel. Excellent for hunting or woods protection!
