I've seen quite a few new members struggling to post pictures here, and
I can understand some of the frustration. We attempt to use the latest and greatest
software to keep this board running smoothly, so there might be some features you're not
used to, or some format that looks different.
Here's how to get the pics of your latest new heater, or of grandpappy's
war rifle online for the rest of us to drool over.
First, you need someplace to put your picture online. This is called a photo host.
Some people use Photobucket.com, some have purchased a Patron membership
here, and have a photo gallery. Whatever you use, you'll need to get your pics
hosted online somewhere. Once it's uploaded, you'll need to tell the board
software where to look for it, so it displays in your post. This is easier than it sounds.
First, locate the picture online. Once you've found it, right click on it, then select "Properties".
Highlight the "Address (URL)", and select "Copy". It will look something like this:

So, now you're ready to start posting your pics. When you're replying to a topic, or starting
your own, look just above the text box. You'll see a button of a image, like so:

Now, click on that image button, and a box will pop up. It will be asking for the URL of the picture, or
where on the internet it can be found. That box will look like this:

My apologies to all those who can actually use photo-editing software correctly, I know I
butchered up these screen-shots. Hopefully though, everyone will be able to understand the
general principle.
Edited to upgrade image of new site.
