its cool looking, but why not just get a side mount with rail, like the gun was designed for?

I have one, didn't prefer it. I have a tantal though so no side mount option. The new version is much better. It doesn't hook into the front sight and has a quick detach mount for easy cleaning. They are stable and give a good length of rail to work with. They are based on the Polish Beryl, which is like a M4ed out .223 AK.

Man, I really like that QD flip up one. I don't think I can bring myself to pay $170 when you can put a front rail on for around $70-$100, but that is nice.

I am thinking about getting one of these:

Pull of the optic and you have your irons back.

But I am only thinking about putting a red dot optic on mine so the optic being so far forward is fine.

But then I got my Addax Gas piston AR. Sure I still have to keep a few small replacement parts, but I'll let you kick me in the balls for every malfunction I have with my Addax GPU, thats how reliable it is!

So far we are at, hold on, let me check..... ZERO!

On a tantal this isn't an option either. I have read a few reviews who prefer this "ultimak gas rail" style rail. One criticism is concern for burning out your optic but i haven't ever seen pics of it. These two styles are the best AK optic option IMO.

The ultimate gas tube and aimpoint micro T1 will co-witness with factory irons.

Try turning an AK into an M4 and the M4 'bugs' will follow....

It does.

Larry Vickers of Vickers Tactical

if you have your heart set on the RSB/Rear Trunion rail, DPH and CNC Warrior offer them. Personally, I prefer the Ultimak.

I dont see why it wouldn't. Realistically most all of your shots are going to be within 200m. The 7.62x39 kinda peters out after that. set the sight on "1" zero it in at 100 and leave it, using KY windage to make up for the shorter/longer ranges.
