Do you have the means of posting a picture of this mount set up?
Does it enable you to swing your scope to the side or is it a solid mount?

I have googood images of the 760. This included spec drawings. They show 4 scope mount holes tapped in the top. Double check for recessed screws in the top. They may be practically hidden after all these years. All else fails, call either Pachmyr or Remington and they can help. It could also be possible that the side plate is rusted to the side of the receiver. If so, you will have to put some serious pressure on it to pry it off.
