Sub zero nights in the desert - it's on

So I will be a crazy one again and camping in the desert over Christmas break. It's broken into two parts.
First half I will be solo, second half Mojo and his wife will bring my wife and meet me in Moab.
Then be a pussy and stay in a hotel then.

I plan on hitting the Wave again and points in Escalante.

Here is what the area looks like.
The Wave

Escalante Area

Temp drops like a rock when the sun goes down. Glad I have the zero degree rated stuff.
I am planning on building a bed so to speak inside the Trooper though.
I am gonna buy some plywood and build the area up so I can stretch out better in the back.
As soon as my wifes plans are finalized with her getting off work, I will start building it out.
I will post picks later.

i'm now super jealous! i got to do a month long backpacking trip in escalante in the month of november a few years back. absolutely beautiful area. and yeah, those mornings you gotta cross the chest deep water are cold! sounds like a good time man, i really miss that place.

I have done lots of rock climbing in Moab along Potash Road. Not to mention mountain bike riding the Slickrock Trail.
This is the best time of year down there.

Most people, beginners are just impressed with the "Practice Loop" of the Slickrock.
Haven't rode Spider Mesa.

If you do ride it, you will come upon a spot where it is best to walk you bike accross.
Its a 200+ foot drop straight down. There are several bikes down there that did not make it... wink.gif

I will not be doing this trail again. I did it 4 years ago and was great shape. But it had many areas where I said WTF!

oh yea.gif so jealous. goblin valley is a weird place. have you ever been to the Golden Cathedral in Escalante?

very easy to get to if you find yourself near it

Never have made it to see Golden Cathedral, but have been to several other places in Escalante.
I like Escalante the best since there are so few people who go there.
