Is 22# going to be enough? The stock double spring setup is rated for 23#. Seems like I had to use heavier for 45 Super (it has been a while but I remember 24).

It's not a bull barrel. That one is supposed be out as an XSE next year (at least that is what Colt told me a couple of weeks ago and demo'd a few years ago at SHOT). A good option for a fitted barrel for a little more $ than the DE would be a Dan Wesson RZ.

If you install the flat-bottomed stainless steel EGW firing pin retainer, the slide will be a little harder to rack. This is because the mainspring will be providing a bit more resistance as the slide reaches the apex of its rearward cycle. Because of this, you need no more than 22-pounds of Wolff recoil spring to pemit positive ejection, yet protect the frame of the pistol. This "balance" will ensure your Delta Elite a much longer life. Most "experts" concerning this "alteration" will attest to this.

BTW, the Dan Wesson pistols already come with a match barrel/bushing setup. As the man in the spaghetti sauce commercial spot said... "its in there".

Yep, that's what I was trying to convey. If someone was looking for a match barrel/bushing I think that a DW would be a better choice than working on a stock DE (I have a 10mm DW already). Dan Wesson sure builds a tight pistol!

Thanks for the advice on the spring setup. I have the feeling the FPS/Wolf spring is going to be needed. smile.gif

My pleasure. The DE is a good "builder" pistol, but the DW pistols render the "building" of a pistol unnecessary.

Since this is about Series 80 pisols, how is the trigger on your DE? I have been led to believe that some of the Series 80 pistols have some what "creepy" or "gritty" triggers. Does yours break cleanly? What is its status? I really hope that yout pistol is a good one!

Yea, the .45 Supers ran with a 28lb spring, IIRC.... (it's been a while)

As for the bull barrel question, I didn't even realize that your DE had the standard setup. The old pics from last year's SHOT show led me to believe they were using a bull barrel setup. Honestly, now that I know they went with the standard setup, I might actually grab one of these bad boys for sentimental value.

I wish that I had that kind of disposable income for such "sentimental" purchases! If I did I think that I'd be preparing to buy a new Bren Ten!

Lol! I wish I had the money, too! I wouldn't be able to afford it anytime soon, actually. If I did I would probably get a Fusion Longslide, anyways hehe....

I'd rather spend the money on a Fusion Arms pistol, than on a "built" Delta Elite ANY DAY!

The Fusion I spec'd out was $1500. That's more mad money than I have at the moment
One day though!

A couple pics of the new 2009 Colt Delta Elite.
Pic quality is not so good as it is just from my Blackberry but I am very pleased with the pistol.
This is my second 10mm. My first is a DW Commander Bobtail.

I will always think that's a sexy pistol....
