I would hate that man if I were a dog.

To answer your question, the MSAR is a great little bullpup. Steyr has a civilian AUG on the market if you want something a little more authentic, but be ready to shell out the coin.

I really don't like the trigger on them. I think they are a great way to get a compact rifle without going the SBR route, plus you don't lose muzzle velocity.

I want one as well. The triggers aren't great but there's at least one company that works on triggers or makes a better one, I can't remember which. They feel like an extension of your body.

my only complaint with Bullpups is the magazine location is just so damned awkward to me

I haven't fired mine yet, but I recently picked up an MSAR STG E4 (uses M16 mags), and it's a great little gun. It has a 20" barrel, but overall it's only 30", onpar with an M4 with buttstock collapsed. I agree with TigerStripe that it feels like an extension of one's body. I have mostly dealt with AKs and M16 in my years of shooting, and this little guy is amazing. It has a folding fore-grip up front with little finger grooves that is very comfortable, but I put a bipod between the fore grip and the pistol grip (because there's a little rail there, and I wanted to test it out; I'll also be using the bipod for zeroing, but that's all), and when you have your shooting hand on the grip, and your other hand (in my case, the left) on the "pistol grip guard," it's still extremely comfortable. It's sort of like using the magazine-well of an AR15 for a foregrip as far as comfort and feeling go.

I will admit the magazine release feels a little awkward. Dave Robertson of Microtech Small Arms Research (MSAR) is sending me an extended magazine release, so I'll see how that works out. I'm sure with shooting gloves, and the rush of the range, mag changes won't be much of a hassle.

Just my personal opinion, but I dont like bullpup designs. They feel funny and unnatural. I also dont like the fact that the case is ejected so far back on the gun. This makes shooting from the support side just about impossible, though I have heard of a model that ejects out the front which would fix this. I think they would make neat range guns but would not be my first choice for SHTF situation. If I were to get one compatibaility with USGI M16 mag would be a must.

That's a popular rumor, but according to my college wingman, it just AIN'T so! He picked up the new E Model at Christmas that takes AR mags, and said it has a crisp 3lb trigger, with no hangups or problems! thumb.gif

Here he is, about 2 weeks ago, enjoying it in the snow!

Just got myself a new E4 with a 20" barrel, and a rail ontop instead of the 1.5x optic. I'm hoping it's got a nice 3lb-4lb trigger pull, but I haven't tried the trigger yet because I haven't taken her to the range yet. I'm waiting on an EOTech 517, and debating about Magpul BUISs. I wouldn't know about hip firing, but it is SOOOO comfortable, even compared to my custom AK and AR. I know it's easy to hate on them because they're different, and it all seems wrong, but when you hold it it seems so right. And seeing how accurate the Tavor was on Future Weapons, I'm sure the MSAR AUG clone will be just as good. It's like owning an M4 that's as accurate as an M16, but lighter than either one.
