I left to try our luck on another Moose hunt for the last week in the opening. We left on Friday and returned on Sunday...we had two Low Pressures coming in and we decided, especially since my 15 year old Daughter was with us, to come home rather than have her out in the bad weather.

Well after seeing how today and last night was, I am glad we went home.

We did see a very large Cow, but no Bull Moose anywhere near, except for fresh tracks. I think this had something to do with the extremely large number of boats and hunters on the river. There was a heck of a lot more out than last time.

I did have a great time finding Meadows and teaching my Daughter a couple things, she will have a head start for next year. I let her use my DPMS LR308 AP4, she almost claimed it.

The weather was beautiful the entire time we were out, very brisk days and extremely cold nights, the first night got to about 20 degrees. I woke up to frost, ice and a very long cold morning in the Meadow.

I guess this just means another post during December or January for the Winter Opening.

Now that is a Beaver lodge, looks like it has 3 or 4 stories. They need to work on the feed bed.

Beavers are bad up in those parts. Some lodges are 4 times this size in the meadows, near the lakes. Nobody traps them nowadays, not worth doing with the price of pelts.

I am not worried about the Moose, things happen that we have no control over. You are right, it was the first time in a while that my oldest daughter had her Dad's attention with no sibling rivalry! I guess I better get another .308 for her, so mine stays safe! Thanks DD

Yeah, I've heard that, but I have not tried any yet...but Porcupine on the other hand is delicious.

Great Pics once again. She looks alot like you. That little apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
Better luck on the next trip. I don't blame her for wanting to claim that one for her own.
From the pics. I've seen all of your firearms are top shelf stuff.
