hmmm.... do i leave it stock? or go with a 3 inch lift and 33's? or, do i go with a procomp 6" lift and 35's? the only problem with going to 35's is going to mean i will need to re-gear it, or else i'm back to square one with not being able to tow. i found a sweet 3 inch kit by truxxx.com that says it maintains the factory ride quality and the kit is only about $400. or....i could get out real cheap just by throwing a 3 inch body lift on there. decisions, decisions.

The 3 is plenty. But it will settle in over time and go down to 2 or so. Maybe put together the 3 inch quality kit, plus the cheap 2 inch body lift, you'll keep the extra wheel travel needed for a good off road vehicle after it settles in.

That does look quite bad ass. I still snicker at people with "street" trucks or off road trucks that are never taken off pavement. At least hit a good dirt road or something with it, trucks don't look good all clean and crap.
smilies in affect.

smilies in affect. i agree with you. i put my old truck through hell, and now i regret it. i've had to replace everything under the front end at least twice, some parts more. i've had it in mud so deep that it hit the fan and literally stained my whole motor red and no amount of pressure washing will get it clean. i actually jumped my old truck one time. i'm not sure how much air i got, but it had to at least been 18 inches to 2 feet. i slammed back down and ripped my brand new fog lights right off the front bumper. i've had my fun, and i'm done with being stupid with an automobile. i'm keeping this truck as nice as possible, for as long as possible.

Looks pretty good but is it really gonna be worth it? the time to install, teh cost of parts, the cost of labor If you don't do it your self) plus the cost of the bigger tires if you go that route.
any possibility of increased drive train wear? Will it kill your factory warranty? Gas mileage effects?
Just a few things to think about.

I have to agree with you about thrashing a vehicle, it is stupid for those without a lot of money. But there is a difference between off roading and just completely trashing it. I'd still make sure it is fully capable of holding it's own off road, not necessarily Baja or redneck style, just capable of taking the unbeaten path.

Just a few things to think about. sure, it'll cost some bucks, but i'd rather do it now before i get married and buy and house and all that responsible stuff. i could go 3 inches and 33's for about $1,400. 6 inches and 35's for about $2,200, give or take on both of them. it would cut my mpg by probably 2-5, depending on tire size. i just gotta do SOMETHING to it. it looks just like every other toyota on the road. i know, i know, jack it up so it looks like all the jacked up ones on the road.

Maybe I'm just wierd but I'd leave it alone unless there was a purpose to lifting it. Then again lifted trucks and suvs to absolutely nothing for me. I went mudding one time in my life and found it to be a pain in the ass.

Never denied I'm wierd I know I am. I use to drive a 4spd Firebird with 4:11 gears and a big block Chevy. No heater, No A/C, No defrost, practically no type of muffler whatsoever. So I guess I really shouldn't rag on people with wierd/odd auto likes/dislikes. But aside from literally watching the gas gauge move while banging gears and getting 6 mpg on a good day it was fun. I guess lifted trucks are the same way. Driving 40 miles to Beaumont left you with quite a bit of hearing loss and a sweat soaked shirt in the summer time and a trip to the gas station.

I never bought my bike before marriage and it sure as hell aint happening now! as for the lifts, I am not much into the REALLY tall lifts. I like the look of the 3" lift. just my opinion. I never Lifted my Taco, just put 265s I love it and gets me around the woods, dirt roads, street GREAT!

If you go 6" and something breaks. You are on your own. Warranty is not going to cover it.

BUT, it's a Toyota, i don't expect anything to break in the 5yrs/60k miles anyways.... especially if it is not off-roaded.

Warranty won't cover ya if you modify the drive train or suspension unless you use TRD parts. I had Toyota deny my blown 2 week old radio in my 05 because there were tiny pinholes in the harness from using a circuit tester. ( had a local instal co add an amp to my stock deck) . Think of the ammo you can buy if you keep moderate sized tires due to gas savings. I like lifts in the 3" MAX range. I get a kick outta guys drivin around town in huge trucks with huge tires, trucks pretty and shiny, chrome covered etc, and they'll never see the dirt, probly cry when it rains. Just be honest with yourself about your needs. 2-3" lift, 265x75x16/17" IMHO
