i was looking at stags website and it said they had a lefty bolt that was "a regular bolt" but modded for a left side ejection.

are all bolt/carriers right handed?

You will need a left hand bolt and ambi barrel extension.

If you buy a Stag upper, it comes that way.

For a left handed upper, I would suggest buying a pre assembled Stag upper. Stag makes top notch stuff. If you dont want to do that, then Id just go with a right handed upper. Ive shot my right handed one left handed a few times, and you dont get hit with brass or anything. My right handed Stag works fine with me when shooting left handed.

The main reason Id go right handed is because of the availability of parts. Chances are you will never need another bolt carrier, but if you do, then your options are very limited.

so barrels like eric shaw or sabre wouldnt work on lefty upper huh.

edit: just did some reasearch on this site about this subject. looks like stag, jtac or white oak are my choices for an ambi barrel extension.

Barrels will work-you need an ambi barrel extension-the part the bolt locks in to.

I just took my old man to the range last Sunday and shot his new Lefty Stag. That thing is without comparison the SMOOTHEST upper I have ever shot!!!!

Very accurate as well!

But then I got my Addax Gas piston AR. Sure I still have to keep a few small replacement parts, but I'll let you kick me in the balls for every malfunction I have with my Addax GPU, thats how reliable it is!

So far we are at, hold on, let me check..... ZERO!

Hmmm, so they just flip it 180 degrees? How does the cam pin fit in then, they must ream out the bolt differently for that.

Yeah, I also didn't see how you could use the same bolt in the left handed Stag.

it kinda sucks because i wanted to get a chrome bolt. i read stag is just chrome lined. my pops told me something about the chrome bolt being the reason the m16's got more reliable from jamming in vietnam. of course i couldnt find out because i have too many tattoos and the marines wouldnt take me.

is chrome lined the same as those chrome bolts i see on brownells from jp or dpms or smith enterprise?

The chrome lined barrels is what they added in Viet Nam, not chrome bolts. The leftys are very reliable. They are the same as the right hand models.
