I don't either. I wasn't knocking that device. I'm not going to be taking any 250 yard shots at night. I would have the laser zeroed at room distance CQB range or a little farther.

The reason they compare their device with night vision is because that green light is focused and won't give a big signature like a white light.

Yep. Its unbelievable how far that thing throws. Now when I say 250 yards, Ive never measured it, just estimated.

And that laser thing says it will go UP TO 250 yards. Which leads me to believe it will be too dim to use that far.

EDIT: After thinking about it its probably more like 150-200 of usable light.

I recently purchased one of these from a supplier and I like it, but you will not be able to see anything other than eyes glowing over 100 yards. You will be able to see an animal at 100 yards or less pretty well with a great scope. I am using a Burris 3x9x40 and I can see my dog and can tell the color and out line pretty well at 100 yards. The further you go the less you can tell what you are looking at other than the eyes glowing. You could probably shoot it between the eyes if you were good. Cheaper than night vision. I bought a Gen. I night vision scope a few years back from ATN and this thing out performs it hands down. I would say that it is closer to Gen. II night vision other than it is a laser light. My supplier still has some if anybody wants one. I have it mounted on an AR15 in 6.8 spc. thumb.gif

My opinion, save your money and buy something useful for your weapon.
There are several models of Eotech holographic sights that have laser illuminators (LI), laser target designators and LI's, with NV compatibility. I think they're relatively new. Some use IR lasers, which are restricted (I don't know if by law, or industry self restriction). They are not cheap.

Larry Vickers has one on at least one of his M4s that he is using in this season of Tactical Arms. You can get an IR designator but the government puts the health threat "label" on them and the industry pretty much polices them by self restriction.
