If I forgot to say it, THANK YOU for what you did, who you are, and the difference you've made.

I was in Veitnam 66/67, as a crew chief/Flight Eng. on a CH-47A chinook in the 1st Cav. 228th AVN BN. "C", company the Winged Warriors. There are a lot of good pictures of those years on the Vietnam Helicopter Crew Memebers Association.com, site. If you all know anyone that flew in those days please send them to that site, they are always looking for new memebrs.

Special thanks to all who served with us during the Nam Era and The Men who are still serving to secure our freedom. Special thanks to the 50,000 men who's names are on the wall.

If you've not heard this, give it a listen

I spent a year in northern part of South Vietnam near the supposed DMZ. What a bunch of God forsaken places. Upon my return to an ungrateful country I went underground and did not come out until "The Wall" was dedicated in November 1982. I visited "The Wall' three times between 1986 and 1988. My visits and the touching of names began the purging of some demons and the beginning of some openness and healing. Thousand of young American men dead for nothing. I was there when a few of them left their bodies. What a waste of life.

I have an Uncle that did 2 tours i believe during the thick of things as a Corps man. Has never spoke a word of it. I wish i could hear but i dont know if i would want to hear all of it. My Uncle in law's brothers name is also on the wall. Died a very young man.

God Bless Our Troops

Now as my best friend is getting ready to go to Afghanistan i find myself dying to go as well. If only training and deployment could move faster....

My brother served and "returned" twice, I know once was with 1/7 Air Cav "Apache Lift" he was a helo mech. He never talked about it, I did see some pictures from when he was there. I also remember trying to wake him up once from night terrors (before I new what they were) and sliding down the wall of our bedroom and landing on my head! Never got near him when he was asleep again! He got out of the Army and went into the Navy as a Jet Mech. Retierd after 22 1/2 years combined service, passed on at the age of 45 of a heart attack. I am glad that I knew him and that he was my brother.
My dad served 2 tours in Korea (Combat Wounded by sniper trying to save one of his tank crew who was already wounded) and almost got sent to 'Nam he was 2nd Armored Div "Hell on Wheels". He passed on last spring.
GOD BLESS ALL WHO SERVED THEN and NOW

QUOTE (Wonka1313 @ December 21st 2008 5:51 AM) *
My Grampa's served, my Uncle's served, I served. I've read most of the books that relate to Vietnam, but nothing brings it closer to home than my uncle. He was a fighter pilot in 'nam and was shot down...had to eject, broke his back etc. To this day he hates the sight of a "slope"...doesn't matter what their nationality is, he just figures they all are. However, he has the heart to beat all lions hearts. He lost his wife, my Aunt last year. Died of kidney failure and cancer. He never gave up...he never has, he never will. He's stuborn like that and I hope when push comes to shove I can prove myself worthy.

Now hear this! If anybody gets a chance to go to the WALL, they need to do so and NOT FORGET those whose names are on that wall period. I don't want to hear any excuses because there is NO DAMN EXCUSE GOOD ENOUGH SAVVY!

My father served in Nam in the US Air Force. He passed away 2 years coming up soon. I learned alot from him and I can say he was his own man. Quiet but took no crap. Iam proud he served wich led me to serve in the US Army.
I shall say thank you to all who served. You did a job well done. Iam proud to have been able to do my part in my service.
Thank you gentleman!
