I took the kids fishing today. It was a little hot but a nice day overall. We were fishing in the pond at the gun club and caught a mix of bluegill and crappie. Then my oldest hooked into the best fish of her life. Her Zebco33 wouldn't real it in or so she said. She screamed for me as I was about 50 yards around the bank baiting one of the other kids hooks. As she screamed she took off running away from the pond. I jumped up and started running toward her thinking something was wrong when I saw the bass jump out of the water and onto the bank. Well, at least she landed it. Now we have another memory that she will hopefully keep with her.

3 lbs. 3 oz largemouth

The smile on her face says it all. Heck of a good catch there. I bet she can't wait till the next time you go fishing.

Watch that one, she is likely to bring home bigger deer than you. Not that that is bad but it can be humbling.

She caught it on a little white tube jig tipped with a wax worm. Usual crappie/blugill bait. Never expected her to catch that. I was fishing with a rubber worm between baiting hooks and never caught a thing. It had rained the night before and the water was pretty murky but they wanted to go fish anyway. Glad we went.

I don't keep many fish since their mom won't eat fish. When I go fishing and catch a stringer of catfish they come home. Bass I let someone else get a chance to catch.

That's great! Glad to see you getting your children involved in the outdoors! She looks like she enjoyed the day.

haha thats funny. my parents have similar story about me when i was around 5 years old they tell all my friends. when we lived in michigan we all used to go to this camp for a week it was a church camp and everybody from our hometown went. i kinda remember this but not very well. my dad and i were fishing in a pond at the camp and there was a very large trout swimming around that everybody could see but nobody could catch it me being the little stinker i was set out to catch this thing if it took me all day that evening i hooked on to that fish only to find my reel all tangled up so what do i do ? the same thing any kid would do i took of running up that bank pole in hand as fast as i could and landed that darn fish. hard to remember now but my parents said that it was around 18 to 20 inches. your daughter caught a heck of a fish!!!!! thats something that she will remember for a very long time
