Hello folks. Been quite a while since I have posted, although I have lurked a bit.

Scored a NIB SW 1006 at a Gun Show along with 2 boxes of Win 200gr Black Talons for $550.

Have wanted one for a long time.

Quick question: from a collector perspective, should I not fire it? Or should I go on ahead and ply my craft?

I have two other 10mms (Ruger Buckeye and Kimber Stainless Target II.)

Thanks!

That is entirely up to you on whether you should fire it. Personally I don't think I could own a gun that I wouldn't fire. However, I do have several friends that have safe queens that haven't been fired since they left the factory. Congrats on getting what you want though.

Strictly from the collector perspective, no do not fire it....it will be worth more that way. In fact don't do any customizing to it or anything else, keep all papers, box, etc together.

Other than that....the 1006 is the most common of the 10xx series of pistols from S&W with the 1046 being the rarest.

sls5757, Congrats!

Does it have the adjustible sights? Or fixed sights?
The Gun shoot it and enjoy the thing. That is why you bought it. I shoot all of my guns, clean and store till next time.
The Black Talons are more of a collector item. I have my original box of 20 Black Tallons, I shoot one of them to dispatch a deer, 19 left.

Anyway good score great price, best regards!

As a former 1006 owner (and shooter! :nt: ), that's an awesome find, BUT... you know the rules! :smartass:

That`s a great price, especially at a gun-show. I paid $700 otd for my 'like new' #1006. The last one I saw at a show was not very clean & was priced at $675. I saw it at later shows as well, still sitting in the display case.

thats a good deal if youre going to shoot it.

if youre not going to shoot it you paid about $400.00 too much for a "looking at gun"/ replica.

Hi everyone. Thanks so much for taking your time to post and share your thoughts.

FYI, it has the rear adjustable sights with a small tool included for that purpose.

Will try to cobble together some pics and post soon.

Be well,
