Hey there, another how's-it-going type thread.

I'm a certified PADI Rescue Diver, and am looking forward to diving Lake Huron when I get home. Any place good in the southern area of the lake that's not too deep? Been diving in Texas (yeah, you can actually dive in Texas), and the water temps are definitely nicer than the Great Lakes.

So, list your favorite dive sites, post pics, your favorite gear set-ups, anything diving related to Michigan and the lakes!

Guess this means I'm the only diver around these parts right now.

I dive but never in the Great Lakes, even though I live close to Lake Michigan. Too cold for me. I learned to dive in Jamaica. I've been to the Caymans, the Bahamas, Gualeloupe (FWI). Oh yeah, Cancun and Cozumel. Also Tahiti. Once in the Floridal Keys. I've dived iwth sharks, dolphins and stingrays. And a good sized moray eel. Sharp teeth on that sucker. Literally, first hand experience.

Man it has been a long time, but I use to dive also. I kinda been wanting to get back into it, but time is not on my side.

Another one of those things I would love to get certified in that I have no time for.

I think about even more every time I go to Florida

I tell ya what, there is nothing like breathing underwater. Then once you learn how to control your bouyancy, you become weightless, and now you're flying and breathing underwater.

Definitely worth the training. I love SCUBA.

I used to dive.... back when NAUI was the only game in town, and PADI was just in it's infancy.

Damn... that was like 25 years ago...

I don't dive myself. And sadly I haven't lived up there in 17 years.

The dive shop at the harbor has a decent rep last I knew though.

Yikes. Diving in the Great Lakes. Too cold. I can give you some ideas in the tropics.

I swam in them most of my life. If I can swim in shorts in Lake Superior, you can dive in Huron with a wet suit...
