But riddle me this.... do you know what the mfg date is on it??
If its pre-ban I may be interested in taking it off your hands and of course making it worthwhile for you.

A mod will be along soon and can move it to the AR section. No worries.

I believe it is a pre-ban, it has the muzzle brake/flash hider. Do you know where I could find the manufacture date with the serial number? I'm still unsure as to what to do with it, but I will keep your offer in mind.

If it is indeed pre-ban, it could be worth some decent money.
I am in NY, so pre-ban lowers are hard to come by. I may be very interested if you are interested in selling/trading it.

Tim,
Looks like it was manufactured in 1974, so it is a pre-ban.

Any chance I can get a couple of pics?
I'll get some pictures posted soon. I'm pretty busy with work this week. Just curious, about how much do these generally sell for?

In a ban state like NY, a nice Colt pre-ban will go for around 1K or more.
While I would love to get another pre-ban, I don't have the money right now for that.
If you just wanted to replace/sell the lower alone, then I may try and scrounge the funds.

I bought the gun for the lower and I am still looking for another lower. I am in need of one more lower, but if I got rid of this this one, I would need 2. Do you have 2 lowers that you would be will to part with for this? I'll post pictures of the lower later tonight. Just something to think about.

I have a brand new Double Star lower sitting in the safe, just bought it last week.
I could scrounge another one from the local shop, or work a lower + cash(enough to get another lower) deal.
I look forward to the pics.

There's no way it's a 1974. Colt only produced SP1 AR's back then. The military didn't get the A2's until the 80's. (trying to be a help, not an ass-hole)

I'm just going off the link posted earlier in the thread. The whole reason for me asking about this gun is to find out more. Do you know where I could find the accurate information? The upper was not replaced. It just looked like they took the stock off for some reason and lost the rear take-down pin because the stock was off and they they started to lose all the springs and detents that were not held in place. I just got the replacement parts from midway usa and shot it yesterday, it worked just fine. I was busy with work all day yesterday and today, I will post the pics soon. Besides, all of that, I still think it is a pre-ban.

then you can upload the images to your album there, then its as simple as copying the text from the "IMG" box under the pic and pasting it in a post here.
Or you can email me the pics at Captainbarrred@gmail.com and I can throw them up for you.
