Winchester 175 gr Silvertips for personal defense. The Silvertips open fast and I've never seen a 10mm Silvertip expand to less than .75". Penetration is adequate to get the job done. Both of my 10mm carry pistols are currently loaded with them.

Hornady 180 gr XTPs are my choice for hunting. The XTPs are "controlled expansion" type bullets. They expand later and usually to .60"+. They're one of the best when you're looking for deep penetration.

Right way's the hardest. Wrong way's the easiest. A rule of nature like water seeks the path of least resistance. So you get crooked rivers and crooked men. Sheriff Hank Pearson (Rip Torn) in "Extreme Prejudice"

P.S.- Have you seen grappler3X's videos in this thread? http://www.ar15armory.com/forums/Ammo-revi...eos-t63481.html In the first video, he tests these two factory loads you're considering.

Check out the latest issue of National Rifleman. A great article comparing two new products: Winchester PDX1 and Hornady Critical Defense.

Unfortunately, even if they turn out to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, neither are offered in 10mm.

Fortunately, "new" doesn't always equal better. wink.gif

I carry the 175 Silvertips in all my 10mms. Extremely accurate in my Smiths, adequate accuracy in the Glocks. Never a failure to feed or eject.
