Went out this morning and got a goose and a hen bufflehead. It was kind of slow, so I went back out this afternoon. Trouble with that was I was watching Maverick this afternoon, so he got to go with me, and since the dog hasn't been out yet, I decided to take him too.

Got there and there were a few birds already flying. Had Maverick bundled up even though it was about 50. As soon as I let the dog out of the truck he went cracker on me and ended up in the lake. Well, at least he didn't mind the cool water. Got into the blind and from that point on it was like refereeing a boxing match in a telephone booth. Gander was stealing Mavericks snacks, Maverick was yelling at Gander to stop. Maverick wanted to stand up and watch what was going on outside, which was fine but no sooner did I pick him up and he wanted back down to play. Then he was done with duck hunting and wanted MOMMY.

Needless to say this happened right as a flock of ducks was circling and the screaming hissy fit he threw turned them. So I packed everything back into the truck and we went driving and bird watching. Was a good time anyway and then we came home and took another nap, we both needed it.

Oh, he knows. I picked him up as a flock of geese was flying past and he pointed and said "POW, POW". Actually if you ask him what a duck or a goose he says "POW".
