This contraption arrived yesterday. It was on the way to delervy to the USMC at NAS Pax River. It landed at our airport because of weather in route. Today it could not continue because of weather and because we were going to get some bad stuff they asked if they could hangar because we had the only hangars large enough to hold it.

It is the V-22 Osprey. This one is about as new as they get off the showroom floor. 17 hours on the ariframe.

I got a couple of pics of the cockpit also but they did not come out good because I only had a cell phone with me.

Saw two of the USMC ones come in for a landing at Camp Bucca last year, springtime IIRC. I was thinking "I wonder why those things are circling around the Camp? And that doesn't look like a C-130"

Until they tilted up and hovered in for a landing. Drew a crowd of about a hundred to hundred fifty just to watch. We weren't allowed closer than one hundred meters from the helo pad, but it was an impressive sight nonetheless.

There is no wrong end. It is a cargo plane. I did not really look but I do not remimber seeing mounts for even door guns.

They build those here where I live. They are flying over all the time. Very cool planes. They have a very distinct sound, don't they?

Very cool pics! Thanks for posting them. thumb.gif

Great photo's, just wish they were a little larger. We've had several come through NAS JRB Fort Worth the last few weeks and I have to say
they are something to see for sure. Definitely a hell of a lot different than anything I have ever worked on. From what I have read they usually
mount what I believe is a M240 mod D on the ramp for protection or possibly a M2 .50 Cal as well. They have a chin mounted gun on the drawing
board for self defense only from what they say. I will say they do sound like nothing else I have ever heard before.

They definatly have thier own sound. They were neat to check out. The cabin is teh same size as the sea knight. I think if it had been more the size og the Chinook the Army would have looked harder at them.
