I just built this AR and mounted the scope.Zero'd it with a laser boresighter.Took it out on opening day without even test firing it.I shot a 4 pointer at about 60 yards and the next day my son shot an 8 pointer at about 250 yards.Feeling pretty good about this rifle so far.

Stag lower $99 Rock River parts kit with National match trigger $120 Shilen military profile stainless barrel $140(gunbroker) Cero forged upper $75 Rock River BCG $95 Magpul PRS $150 and the free float tube $35(gunshow)Leupold rifleman 3-9-40 scope $125 and a few small parts like the gas tube and front sight post etc. so I have a total of around $900 in the whole gun.Shot both deer with 60 grain V-max shells from CNC cartridge company.

My son and I shot 2 last year out of a turkey blind but it was on a farm that had been closed to hunters for the prior 16 years so there were a lot of deer around. We have a number of stands set up on our 200 acres so we can get a little variety and not burn out on one spot.My dad is 75 so I built him a couple of luxury boxes to hunt from. Here is a photo of my stand where these 2 deer were shot

My dads is a little larger and sits at the other end of this field

The whole field is about a mile or longer and all three of the deer pictured came out of it.I hunted the woods the next day(because my son was in the box) and I saw a couple of does but I didnt shoot because we already had seven deer overall (9 hunters that weekend)and I wanted to see who was taking the meat before I killed any more.Besides there are a couple of weekends of hunting left not to mention black powder season and My daughter hasnt got her deer yet.

Can't believe some still use .223 on Deer. Here in my state they set the limit at .24 or above.

Nice shooting!

Nice looking set up.

Bad luck for the forest creatures, but good shooting on your part.
