It's a Romanian G. If the numbers on the left side of the rifle just below the dustcover is the date it's a 1986.

I think original Romanian AKM slings are leather but not sure. VTD should be by shortly and I am sure he knows. I have been using a East German one on my Romy “G”.

Yup,

Just a plain ol romy leather sling.

I just checked copes and apex and didn't see any but they're around.

I use a Russian one on my "G" build. They're the most rugged slings I have come across. Far stronger front clips and D-rings and thicker webbing.

My brother-in-law had a yugo with some green nylon sling on it. It wasn't a commercial sling I don't know what manufacture it was but if I'm going to put something non-correct on it I want one of those.

What countries used green nylon slings?

Thank you

Scratch that...

You sure it was nylon?

I would REALLY recommend against nylon slings on AKs

I did some poking around and there are Bulgarian, Polish and Romanian green nylon slings.

Learn something new everyday smile.gif

All the romy guns I have seen came with the leather slings but I bet some guns and some kits came with the nylon.

The Leather sling was used on the AIM-63 and AIM-65 (AKM and AKMS), and the green nylon was used on the AIMS-74 (AK-74)

There used to be a guy names "greentimber" that sold Romy slings by the gross.
