I had Johnny Semm (owner, gunsmith of Shooter's Service Center) look over my 10mm IAI Javalina. He told me that the pistol looked good and there shouldn't be any problem with the barrel bushing on the pistol. John said: "If it doesn't have any feeding problems I can't see any reason that you can't shoot it." This IS good news! (I haven't shot the pistol for a number of years, believing that I had damagedthe barrel bushing with a Wolff 24-pound recoil spring.) Since it passed his inspection, I'd certainly like to take her out for a "run" before the weather turns lousy until spring comes around.

The only problem I have had is with the re-assembly
after field stripping. The spring makes for a wrestling
match.

About 12 years ago I bought a heavier (24-pound) spring for a Colt's Delta Elite from Wolff to slow down the slide velocity produced from my handloads. A John Taffin recipe of a 170-grain JHP over 13 grains of AA#7 propellant resulting in 1374 fps and generating 713 fpe was considered a warm load in 1991 (according to John Taffin's standards!) To keep a long story short, I field-stripped the "pig" and noticed that the "fork" on the barrel bushing was "bowing out" from the bushing's body. I stopped shooting the pistol to prevent further damage until I could have it gone over by a competent gunsmith.
