I need some help.....I have my eye on the SW 1006. I have never owned a 10mm before but am chomping at the bit to get one.

My question is some what simple I hope. The Pistol I am looking to buy has a Hogue rubber grip installed on it. I want to replace it with the straight SW grip with out the hump on the back of the grip. I want it more to a 1911 grip angle.

Anyway is it hard to change out the grips? I cant seem to tell how they are attached to the pistol. Can anyone help me?

Thanks

They're easy to replace. They just pop right off and the new grips just slide back on. I went the other way, and put Hogue grips on my 1006. They just fit my hand better.

Hope this helps.

As Fred sezs, they are easy. I replaced my Hogue rubber grips with checkered Hogue Kingwood and they feel much better.

Ok does the factory have a pin or a screw? I am looking at both and it looks like the Hogue has a screw and the factory has a pin. Any Idea? Also if I get a set of factory grips do I need to get a pin to attach them?

Thanks for all your help

Mine came with Hogue's when I bought it, so it had a screw. The new wood Hogue's also have a screw.
The screw is actually 2 screws that fit into a little saddle like affair...easy to install.
Even if the factory had a pin (and I do not know if it is a pin or not) it would likely just punch out, no big deal.

The Houge has an adapter that has 2 screws to hold on the grips. To go back to stock remove the 2 screws and grip panels then you will see that the adapter is held in with a pin, push out pin and remove black plastic adapter and install factory grips using that pin.

It sounds like srouse2822 needs the factory pin to attach the stock grips on his 1006, he wants to go back to a stock grip configuration.

The Houge screws and adapter won't work for the S&W derlin stock grips. S&W should be able to supply what he needs.

Thanks everyone. I ordered new stock grips and a grip pin for a total of about 16.00 from Midway. It sounds like I can take care of this myself. Thakns for all your help. 10mm shooters seem to be a small bunch but I appreciate all your help. Looking forward to getting this pistol
