Nothing against Bushmaster but DPMS without hesitation.

I have had both and had trouble with both. Now the Rock River ran very good, it was two steps above them both.

Tough call. I'm surprised they are the same price too. Normally DPMS is less expensive.

When things are going all right I'd say they are on parity of quality. That the DPMS is usually less expensive means that though they are about the same quality the DPMS is a better value.

However I've been hearing that a few Bushy's this year have had some issues. Likely caused by rushing rifles to market. DPMS seems more willing to just say no to being rushed and simply say they will back order you. A tough call now that might cost them some cash, but will keep their fans loyal with quality product.

But you said they were the same price and it got me thinking. Are the rifles exactly the same? If you could gather more details about them and post them here then maybe we can figure out why the DMPS is more expensive or if the the Bushy is cheaper. Perhaps they differ sightly in features. A few minor changes that might not be so visible on the rack 10 feet away may be the difference.

I will say that if all things are completely equal then I'd say DPMS will give far better warranty and support service. They will back you to the hilt.

I'd say DPMS.. The bushy my buddy bought had issues upon days! Jamming after every 3-5 rounds.

I'm new to the AR world however.. and from what I understand, DMPS = good stuff that a lot of members own/like

If the DPMS has a chrome lined barrel, that's why they are the same price. I would check for that.

Had both and owned DPMS for many years and never had a single problem with the DPMS

I'm new to the AR so no experience to share. The feed back I've seen is good for both.
I went with DPMS based on reputation and the cost was less no matter where I looked.

I personally have a bushmaster and have never had a problem with it, but apparently the new ones this year are no good. I dont have any experience with a DPMS but have only heard good things, if they have all the same features and are the same price or the DPMS is cheaper I would say go with that.

Over the last three days I've stopped in at Cabelas, Sportsmans Warehouse and Sports Authority looking at ARs. Been able to compare Bushmaster, DPMS and S&W. Part of the reason was to compare my recent build with what they had for $900 or slightly more. Looked at M4 models with a carry handle and have to say the Bushmaster impressed me more than the others. Liked the attention to detail and the trigger definitely was better - smoother and lighter. I was slightly disappointed with the S&W M&P-15, all three places had it, ranging from $999 to $1099 yet I just didn't care for it and the Bushmaster XM15-E2S stood out. Best thing about the DPMS was the $800 price and my only real complaints were the non chrome lined barrel and a very heavy, gritty trigger (which can be corrected of course).

I like my pieced together AR better though, especially since it's a midlength yet still came in at $900 including carry handle and front sight for the railed gas block. The Bushy's trigger beats mine though.

Also I've been impressed with my buddy's Bushmaster Carbon-15. Again, a great trigger right out of the box and a very handy lightweight design. Think it comes in at 6.5 pounds and that's noticeable compared to others. Thought it might be too fragile but it's done everything right for over a year now. I've got to fire it many times and love that little rifle.

How so? I've never known a S&W owner do anything, but sing its praises.

What bothered you about it?

I picked Bushmaster over DPMS when I was shopping. The Bushy just felt better to me. No problems to date.
