Good afternoon, and thanks for the very good site.
I just bought my first 10mm for $300. It's a very early blued Delta Elite pre-enhancement, post cracking fix. Seems you can special order guns to Guam but getting ammo is a royal pain; thus, it ain't been fired much. It's beyond mint so I'm pretty happy with the purchase.
All is well, except getting 10mm to this island is easier said than done. The local shops stock high turnover ammo (9, 40, 308, 12 g) but everything else is special order. I can get reloads so all is not lost.
Since I can't readily get 10mm, how hard is it to convert to 40 S&W? We're a little short on gunsmiths so keep that in mind. This is a short term fix as I transer next summer and don't want to wreck a very fine firearm.
Is there a drop-in replacement rod and spring in the market? This one still has the plastic rod.
The front site is the orginal thin metal post style. I'd like a good night site or something a little more visual. Any suggestions?
Thanks for the assist. I'm pacing back and force waiting for a chance to hit the range. I may wait until returning to the States for some of the fixes as S&H is another issue on the rock.

a) remove the "original" dual-spring Delrin "composition" guide rod setup. (Place them into a plastic bag and save them in the remote case that you wish to sell the pistol at a later date.)
b) Install a "full-length" guide rod;
c) intall a 24-pound Wolff Gunsrpings recoil spring;
d) install a 24-pound mainspring (hammer spring);
e) install a flat-bottomed, stainless steel EGW-brand firing pin spring retainer;
f) install the "fully-supported" (ramped) 10mm Match-grade barrel/bushing combination of your choice;
g) purchase/install the .40 S&W barrel/bushing/link that will fit your pistol (either drop-in or match-grade and fitted, your choice.)
f) Shoot away to your heart's content! No further modification to you pistol is necessary. Hang on to the old parts so that you can return the pistol to its original configuration if you plan on re-selling the handgun. Other than that, you are set to go out and have a ball!
