First of all, it should be a .44, not a .45. Next, find out what it is. Could be an 1860 Colt Army, an 1858 Remington, a Walker, a Patterson, or one of the Dragoon models. (there were at one time a number of incorrect 1851 Navy's built in .44......stay away!)
Of the lot, the Remington is the strongest, and the 1860 Army is the most popular. Likely it is one of these.
