My father in law is going to shoot for the first time next month and plans to shoot single stack with his Kimber 1911. He wants to order a beveled mag well but I don't think that's legal on a non-race gun. Can anybody answer this? I'm rooting through the rulebook and having trouble finding the answer. Thanks in advance.

Magwells are ok, long as gun fits in box.

Until your father-in-law decides that the sport is for him, just tell him to shoot what he has, magwell or not. He may want to change a few other minor things with his gun(like sights or grips) as he gets more involved with the sport and with the SS class.
The magwell will not push him into the open class as long as it fits into the SS box(consult rule book).
Good luck!

Thanks guys. He's a big 1911 guy and was planning on taking his Kimber Target II, which is stock. Mag changes on 1911's aren't quick at all, at least not for me.

As for those reloads... PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!
Then you'll be this good.

Be sure to visit Todd Jarret's site too.

Good luck!
