I'd say S&W, they make a great 1911 for a decent price.

I had to vote RIA. I started with a llama 3" for concealed purposes......what a f***ing mistake, sloppiest thing i've ever shot and i've shot a highpoint. That was traded on a used charles daly. It was ok, decent trigger, but one night after cleaning I loaded it as we were about to leave, and as I gripped it to put it in the holster BAM it went off through a chair and buried itself a 3 inches in the cabinet. I took it apart, the sear was horribly worn. I could have just replaced the sear and probably been fine. I was a little afraid now of the gun itself and sold it letting them know it needed a new sear and not to load it until it had one. I then bought an RIA and it has been my ccw ever since. I've never had a problem with my RIA. I've fired high end guns, my friend had 2 eclipses and a raptor. Another had a nice SA. Sure I don't have an ambi safety, extended beavertail, or skeleton trigger. But I do know that when I pull the trigger, 99.9% of the time it's going to fire, and that means more than any extra gadget.

Although, I do own two Kimbers. When it comes to quality vs. cost; I have to agree with Oak, the Dan Wesson's are hard to beat. As for the parent company CZ , the quality is paramount through the entire product line. I also think, that Rock River Arms delivered a very nice 1911 product; which alas, are no longer available.

Hey all...in reading this thread,I have to ask,has anyone out there played around with,or have any knowledge of what I take as,a new brand of armsmaker,a company called Regent? They are a Turkish company and seem to have a brand new state of the art facility to manufacture guns. My gunshop says they are well made and apear to be. They have a 1911 clone in basic blue that seems pretty nice. A lower and scalloped ejection port was also inclued. The price seemed ok too..about $500 bucks for a new peice. Well, enough outta me. take care rock rat

Well, enough outta me. take care rock rat Never heard of them before. FWIW, I love mt RIA Tactical. Lowered and flared ejection port, skeleton trigger and hammer, ambi safety, and a 5" barrel. The best deal going as far as I know. I paid less than $500 out the door, new in box and this thing hasn't so much as hiccuped no matter what I put into it. Bought a couple Chip McCormick mags for it and a magwell, that's all it needed. I've spent just a little over $500 total and it'll feed anything, even the cheap WWB hollowpoints from Wall World. I'm happier than a pig in sh!t!

I was thinking the Rolling Stones just because of their longevity & accomplishments, but I figured that was too easy a pick. I think I WILL go with Rush though - again because of the longevity, and certainly because of the influence of Lee, Lifeson, and Peart respectively upon so MANY other musicians since the late '80's! Oh wait - we're actually talking about 1911's?!?! Uhmmm... in that case, my vote is for Springfield, as I own an A1 that's given GREAT service for 15 years now - the scalability of the platform with respect to upgrades and customization, and the fact they have excellent customer service. I just won't mention, that I've actually been carying a stainless Smith 1911 with tritium nightsights for the past two years.

The Taurus 1911 is the undisputed champ IMHO. Simply to many goodies to list and if my great grandchildren should ever crack its forged frame, they'll get a new one.

QUOTE (Rampy @ March 6th 2010 12:44 PM) Honestly, I have used a TRP extensively and really have not been all the impressed... it has gone TU with FTF's a number of times... However a Springfield loaded that I shoot rather often did impress me quite a bit being VERY reliable... Of course we are only talking 2 examples here... But for what a TRP costs... "Bang for the buck king" it is not. Also, I love your signature!

I absolutely love my loaded springer. It is extremely accurate and has never given me a single problem. when I went to Front Sight (never again) others were having jamming issues and even a blown captured spring on a Colt sub. Not one issue with mine at all.

Also, I love your signature! Love my TRP so far but I have had a couple problems with the factory mags (or that I attributed to the factory mags) as the issue did not happen again when using 8rd McCormic power ball mags... Will see how she works come the 2 day pistol class down in the Denver area, but I'm not a total goober & will be bringing a backup 1911 just in case
