This thing is amazing, Its so smooth and balanced from the longer barrel. The trigger feels great. I've shot alot of pistols but none anywhere near as powerful that felt so good and didn't "pop". The recoil is like butter. Good to find a place for fellow 10mm lovers

It also has a very natural point to it. I'm in love.

Vreiss, let me be the first to say Welcome! A few other members shoot the AMT Javelina's in 10mm. I believe gunfan has one too, but don't remember if he still has it. What other 10mm guns do you currently shoot?

Vriess, welcome.gif to 10mmTalk!

My My, that is a very nice pistol! It should do you proud and be a good hunting pistol. The only upgrades I could imagine would be recoil springs possibly, check with Wolff Gun Springs...Wolff Gun Springs click here. Be careful as to what you do with it as those are not being made any more, while it is based off a 1911 pistol you may want to consult with someone who knows the pistol better to see what you can and can't do!

Enjoy the forum and be safe! thumb.gif

Welcome to the 10mm world ! I have and shoot a Javalina too. Only
downside is reassembly after a good cleaning due to such strong springs.
Very accurate and reliable. really.gif

I have had two of them and they do feel good in the hand. Unfortunately for me (and I am in the minority), that was as good as they good. One wouldn't finish a mag without jamming, the other one had a horrible trigger and neither were very accurate. In fact, my G29 outshot both of mine. That is really odd too since I normally shoot longer barrelled guns a LOT better.
I have since sold them both and never looked back. I think if/when I look to a long slide 10mm I think I would get a Fusion custom made.

Yours looks nice, I hope it shoots as good as it looks. Most people love them.

Thanks everyone, the 10mm is really a special cartridge when done right.

Mine had some feed issues too but we switched the magazine spring and got some new magazines and that fixed the problem. I have heard the finish on these is a little rough and it seems to be true but I think shes really a gem that just needs a little polishing oh yea.gif

I own a 1991-vintage Javalina. The drawbacks are as follows:

a) The extractors are welded into place, and,

b) The recoil spring is nearly impossible to replace. (These are a custom proposition).

Storm Lake Machine was the last place that you could locate a 7" replacement barrel for the "pig". (I don't even know if you can order one from them anymore). The Javalina was an excellent concept. I only wish that you could have a slide and spring assembly manufactured to create another autopistol of this type. The longer barrel permits "full-house" 10mm ammunition to reach its full potential, creating an effective hunting machine.

As soon as I can afford to replace my bent match-tight barrel bushing (an $80.00 expenditure). The Javalina will be ready to "head afield" once again.

Scott
