Anyone have experience or comments on the Armalite one piece mount? I'd like to put one on a flat top.

a friend of mine had one and we thought it was to low! I just bought a JP mount which has a 1.5 to the centerline and I am waiting for my new gun to come in and try it out.

You might want to look around at this website http://www.maxicon.com/guns/optics/one_pie...iece_mounts.htm

I put an armalite on my flat top & took it out on Saturday. It sits around 1.25"
I like the height (for me)

I'm very please with the mount. I've haven't removed it to test re-zero yet.

I have a flip-up front sight.
I looked through it with the sight up, (in the garage) and could barely tell it was there. I didn't actually try to put it on target with the sight up.

I have a 28 yr old Bushnell 3x9 on it right now. I robbed it off of my .270 until I come up with something else.

My friends are the best: "Hey man, where'd ya get the pellet gun scope (giggle giggle giggle)!?!?!?!?"

Scott:

What kind of scope were you gonna mount on the Armalite mount?

I was looking at it for my Vari X III on a flattop.

For now it's going to be an old Tasco 3-9. I pick up the AR tomorrow so for the near future I'll try to mount it with some see thru rings I have till I figure out just what I need. From what bret said I don't think the front sight is going to be an issue.
Thanx

Scott

It's a good looking mount, thumb.gif made of alloy, not steel. That means it is strong, but not as strong as, say a Badger Ordnance steel ring or something similar. I recently saw the Armalite mount on a flattop. It had some kind of no name scope mounted on it. The scope had at least a 40 mm Obj. The mounting was low to the centerline and gave only about 1 mm clearance from the handguards.

The mount used to be about 70 bucks, but now it is 90 bucks from Armalite's web site. Here are some images I found:

Close up shot of the Armalite mount

Here is another page with images of the mount.

And here is a page with reviews of many of the AR mounts

I have seen these mounts on a riser sleeve. That combination looks good and raises the mount higher. It's practical to have the Armalite on top of a riser like The Larue to give a little extra height

Hope this helps a little
