Robbers steal man's marijuana on Christmas
On the next episode of worlds dumbest criminals..

http://www.adn.com/news/alaska/story/635134.html

The Associated Press

(12/27/08 13:19:45)

FAIRBANKS, Alaska -- Fairbanks police got an unusual report on Christmas morning: A man told them his marijuana had been stolen at gunpoint.

Police were called to the man's home around 5 a.m. People inside the home at the time told police that two men came in, displayed a gun and demanded drugs. Sgt. Greg Foster said the robbers then took an undisclosed amount of cash and "a personal use baggie of marijuana."

One of the victims gave chase to the men, until one of them turned around and fired one shot at him, which missed.

One suspect was described as an African-American, the other as a Native.

An Alaska State Trooper K-9 unit determined that the men fled in a vehicle, though no one was able to describe the car.

Police said if the marijuana was recovered, its owner likely would not face charges as it was a small amount. But they said they would not return it to him, either.

I've had those calls, and I would guess that at least a third of my "robbery" calls were dope ripoffs. They don't find me real sympathetic when they tell their story.

When in doubt, separate everyone and watch them start to sweat. Your "victims" decide pretty quickly that they don't really want to make a police report, and their friends who were in the apartment with them suddenly decide they didn't really see anything.

Wait until you take a theft report for marijuana, because it's legal. Even if it's recovered, we don't give it back.

I'm sure it was just a small baggy..................yeah right. I the same I don't have a lot of sympathy towards those people. Usually ask for it because they are a small time dealer. Even though they try to convince you otherwise.

That's funny. People are so dumb sometimes.

This is sort of off-topic, but what is the difference between a 'robbery' and a 'burglary'? Are those terms interchangable?

No they are not interchangeable. In a nut shell, Robbery is a crime against a person whereas Burglary is a crime against property.

This next one has happened to me a few times.

Lady calls to report that she wants her money back. I ask why, what happened to your money? She says she bought some weed, or what she thought was weed from a dealer. Turns out it was a cooking spice that looked like marijuana. HAHAHA! don't you just love karma?
She goes on to say that they had a few "hits" and they didn't feel anything. I ask for the seller's name, but don't get any names and instead i get told that it's ok, they don't want anything done.

In Oregon, theft is the usual definition, robbery is the taking of property while using, or threatening the use of force to overcome resistance to the taking of the property. Burglary is entering or remaining unlawfully on premises with the intent to commit a crime.

Basically same for FL. Burglary usually is a secondary crime which is in addition to another crime...the crime which was committed through burglarizing. It just refers mainly to entering a dwelling to commit an act like theft, battery, robbery, etc. Hope that helps....

edit: dwelling, structure, vehicle, etc.
