The .40 S&W is an adequate defense round, it's just eclipsed by the 10mm in so many different ways. I shoot the forty as a practice round through my 10mm revolvers. I'm not ambivalent towards the .40 S&W. It just seems like a solution to a non-existent problem. Why would you want a .38 Special, when the .357 Magnum is right around the corner?
