OK guys here is a question I would like to get some feedback on.
I mounted my strikefire on my Colt 6721 flat top with the supplied AR15 strikefire mount.
My irons are zeroed at 50 yards so in order to get the strikefire dot to line up with my sights with the dot on top of the front post while using both the rear and front sights I had to make a 35 MOA elevation adjustment to get the dot down to the top of the front sight post.
The windage only took a 7 MOA adjustment to make the proper absoulute co witness alignment.
So my question is two fold.
Is this method a viable way to make initial red dot alignment adjustments for absolute co witness?
And does 35 MOA elevation adjustment seem excessive?

They need to be zeroed separately.

If you want to lower the red dot sight to match up with your irons, you should get a lower mount.

Yes but the mount that comes with the strikefire is the absoulte co witness mount.
So it is my understanding that this mount should line up with the irons.

I thought this was the case as well. Isn't the higher mount an absolute co-witness?

It should be able to have absolute co-witness. With front and rear sights and a stable shooting position drop the dot until it is on top of the front sight. It should be fairly close. 35 MOA is a little much but should be good to go.

Yep I figure this would be an OK method to getting the initial zero with the SF

Hey TS.

let me know how it would work with out magnifier and during co witness. I was just thinking of buying a mount specifically for co-witness with the srikefire. I'd like to know your trusted opinion before I spend any money on an A2 mount.

I'm curious how one would work with an A2 carry handle co-witness mount, like the following ARMS mount.

My guess, and that's what it is, is that you would need a low mount for co-witness with that rail. The high mount definitely won't co-witness.

A low mount wouldn't be hard to come by though, right?

And even though the high mount wouldn't co-witness, it will still probably be better than mounting it directly on top of the A2 carry handle, right?

It would be about the same if you used a carry handle mount and ring.
