Good grief. You'd think that a company that deals with just about every department in the area, several thousand cops total, would have their stuff together. I've been doing business with this company for the last 10 years or so, and they've ALWAYS had issues getting uniforms out in a reasonable amount of time. It is convenient having the ability to just call them up and ask them to ship you uniforms, but dang, meet your own shipment deadlines.

I called three weeks ago for my annual uniform allotment. One short sleeve, one long sleeve, and two pair of trousers. Everything but the long sleeve is generally in stock, and they can just slap some patches on, and ship them out the next day. Usually. I asked the guy this time, he said all of it was in stock, in their location, and would go to their alterations department that day, and would be shipped the next. I'm a patient guy, I prowled the PD each day after a week, looking for my new uniforms. Nothing. I finally called them back today, and my long sleeve shirt was at the bottom of the pile in their alterations department. Meaning it just got put in that department today. I asked them if they had to order it from another store, or from the manufacturer. Nope. No explanation, no reason for jacking it around for three weeks. I asked why it took so long, and she mumbled something about being busy.

I hope we change shops someday, there is a new one operating that was started by a Lt. from another agency that was tired of the crappy service from the main local shop.

What about y'all? Some of you use a uniform service? Local shop? Purchase your own?

We have one place locally to get gear and 2 places to get uniforms. He sucks to put it mildly. Infamous for saying I'll have it in 2 weeks for 3 months. Ordering the wrong stuff. Now the uniform only place, they rock. Course the company has been here since the 20s and their reputation is at stake. The other guy just needs to go away. It's easier to order online myself.

The only thing gear wise I've bought from the other guy was a flashlight and ONLY because he had it in stock and I really wanted an Ultra Stinger.

In my area the predominant supplier was run out of business when departments demanded written contract terms be stricly enforced and if the supplier was late he had his fee reduced along a sliding scale. He did not like being held accoutable so he went bust. Good riddance.

Now we have another company that is managed by an officers daughter and son-in-law. Currently delivery time averages 2-3 weeks if not in stock. Customer service is fantastic.
