So, what do have you seen or do you carry that would be considered an uncommon carry weapon?

Can't say I have seen anything crazy myself. Some people think I am crazy for carrying the G21 every day.

But, the reason I ask the question is because in my class on Saturday I had a student ask me if he could legally carry an AK or AR pistol. He said he didn't plan on trying but just wanted to know if he could.

I am sure someone somewhere has done it.

An AR Pistol wouldn't be the most concealable thing, so it would be a pain around here.

Well, I guess a lot of folks consider me carrying a snubnose weird these days.

On rare occasions, I have been known to carry a single action revolver like on a cold rainy day under my rain coat. That's in a fast draw holster but I don't know if it counts really since that's really just an outdoor thing and really not in the public (unless you count on the farm or a railroad track).

The state of TN is passing a law with CCW we can carry ARs in our cars loaded and ready to use. I guess that's another one of those won't be doing it except outdoor activity thing but then I was anyway. That's mostly private property, off roading.

If it were legal in TN I might consider having one of these for cold weather. really.gif If they pass loaded long arm in vechicles I might get one for under the truck seat.

Nothing really uncommon.

In NM it is legal to conceal a firearm in your vehicle even if you do not have your CCL. It is considered an extension of your domicile, therefore private property. So I have carried my AR once or twice when I head to my hometown.

If I ever get the urge, I may file the paperwork and carry that supershorty RB posted really.gif

In Florida, once you have a CCW, there is no limit on the number or type of concealed weapons you may carry. If I recall the list it included: brass knuckles, knives, hand guns, anti-personal sprays, .... If the item is out of view, it was legal unless it was on the ATF prohibited list.

I've carried a .44spl loaded with black powder loads. What it wouldn't kill, it would sure as hell light on fire if it was close enough. I did fire a few up close and personal shots with it at a paper target, and it went up like a roman candle. So did the old shirt I hung on the target backer.

Now, I'm a little more boring. Sig P226, G21SF, Keltec P40, or snubbie .38.

Same in Texas thanks to the Castle Defense law.

Unfortunately here in NH, IRCC, the fish & game laws make it unlawful to keep a long arm in a vheicle with a loaded magazine attached or a cartridge in the chamber. Muzzle Loader can be kept with all but the "cap" on the nipple and a rifle can have a magazine "near by" but not able to have it loaded in the vehicle... I know this is off the original topic, but I figured I would sound off on it since It's been mentioned.

However, on topic I had an old friend, who has since passed on, that used to (at times) carry a Taurus Raging Bull 8" .45 Long Colt in a vertical shoulder holster under his leather vest at times. Another friend has carried a SBR AR under his duster on colder days, but it was more for, "look what I can do" effect, for the friends he told more than an every day carry piece.

The TN law will be that a rifle or shotgun can be loaded in vehicle as long as chamber is empty. The TN CCW allows only weapons classified as Handguns to be carried loaded.

My response to that is a KelTec PLR-16. Not much for concealment but a great vehicle gun. Otherwise Glock 29 with backup G20 mags.
