You may want to take a look at the book, "Heart of a Soldier". Its about the actions in that area from 66 through 69 and covers the battle. Though written to be entertaining, it still reads like a pretty dry history really.
Ironically, I also have the DOD films from Vietnam which they did one on the battle. Its really quite hokie with enough propaganda in it to fill a boat but it does have some actual footage.
What's really funny is watching those old Army films, noticing how much BS is in them, then realizing our broadcast news these days are as full of slant as they were.
BTW, I can't recall much other than if I recall it started as a light company was ambushed that resulted in a hilltop defense and got pretty darn hairy, but that's just from memory so don't bank on it. I wasn't there.
