The way some people drive in my neighborhood I may get that for free. oh yea.gif

If you bag one make sure you drain it completely or it will ruin your flooring. thumb.gif

I got a new pair of factory 1076 grips for it and the gun fits my hand much better now. I also picked up an Aker paddle holster for it. If I'm going to use it as a 'truck gun' I want to be able to put it on and take it off quick and easy. I think I can live with the blemishes on the slide. They're pretty hard to see unless it's in the right light. I will definitely be looking into a trigger job and probably some night sights though. I actually like the way it balances better than the 1076, and there also seems to be less muzzle flip. I should have picked up a 1026 years ago!

And your 1026 displays the "warning" language on the slide indicating no magazine-disconnect "safety," which is a preferable variant in my opinion.

That also indicates the pistol was, at some point, pre-owned by an LEA. Neat - and it's a great looking truck gun too. cool.gif

I have to say I'm a bit steamed. About a month ago I spotted a S&W 1026 on Gunbroker with a 'buy it now' price of $400. I jumped on it, had my local gun shop fax out their FFL and put a money order in the mail. About two weeks went by without hearing a word from the seller and every day I stopped by the gun store they would tell me, "Not yet." I emailed and called the seller (a pawn shop) numerous times, but kept getting the run around. It had supposedly been shipped, but they couldn't give me a date or a tracking number. Finally a few days ago, after threatening legal action, they finally give me the info I asked for. They actually did ship it within a week of me sending out the money order and it was signed for at my local shop. I print up a copy of the UPS tracking info and take it in to show them. Turns out the day it showed up both the regular guys at the gun counter were both out hunting and so the person covering put it up behind the rack with the rifles, but never told anyone it had arrived. Now they can't find it! The manager was very apologetic and has stated that he'll cover my costs if it doesn't turn up by Monday, but I'm still out a 1026 at a sweet price! ARGH!!!

Someone that works for the shop has it. I would file a report with the local police and notify the BATF. You have proof it showed up and it was signed for. Unfortunatley you will probably never get the firearm, even if it is found it is now most likely going to be evidence. Gun shops that run like this is the reason our 2nd amendment rights are quickly eroding.

I'm thinking, if you want a "big Ford", say anything in the 250+ class, a 10mm, while a fine round, is not enough. A 150, or Harley Edition, sure, but if you get into some of them bigger "farm" trucks, they take a little more to put down cleanly. YMMV.

I had a similar experience with my first gunbroker purchase in that it was a crappy exchange. Really all on the part of the receiving dealer. Mine was sitting at the post office though. Apparently the FFL of my receiving dealer is confusing in that there were somehow two addresses on it. The guy I bought from sent the gun, somehow it went to the dealers house, they refused it there because it's not their business so it went back to the post office. I got curious about the shipment, called the store and they said nope, haven't seen it. Eventually I was able to figure out that it was at the post office and the dealer wanted more coin to go and pick it up. At this point I'm pretty hacked off because I can't do jack about it outside of doubling my fees, which I would have done I suppose to get the gun. Somehow the guy I bought from was able to explain the situation to the post office and they sent it to the store the next day. Why the receiving dealer couldn't call them I don't know, they just blamed the sender saying that he couldn't follow instructions. So it worked out well, and I obviously would but from the (Gunbroker) dealer again, just find a new FFL holder to ship to.
