remat457, there is nothing wrong with getting the 40S&W conversion barrel for such a fine weapon, trust me on that one. I have the Bar-Sto Match Grade 40S&W conversion barrel for my S&W 1006 and the Storm Lake 40S&W conversion barrel for my Glock 29. Both of mine have been accurate and cost savings to the shooting senerios. If Storm Lake's 1911 barrels are any were close to the others you can go wrong!
I have two Storm Lake barrels for my Glock 29 one in 10mm and one in 40S&W as mention above. Both have been great, accurate, 100% functional and Great machine work on Storm Lake's part. I wish they made barrels for the S&W 10XX series pistols.
These have added to the shooting experience, by allowing the use of the shorty forty (cheaper ammo and there is brass out the wazoo) you are utilizing the same feel and sight picture for realisitic practice. This can save the ware and tear of 10mm brass while allowing you to have some fun.
But don't forget to get back to the full powered 10mm ammo as not to forget why you went the way of the 10! Enjoy!
