Pretty much gut the whole thing. Novak Tritium sights. Tighten up the frame to slide fit. New Kart match barrel and bushing. Beaver tail safety etc. Going to do as much as I can myself to keep cost down. Some things will have to farmed out though.

Making a parts list. My Les Baer build snowballed into a big money pit, so this one will be built fer shootin, not fer lookin at.

I will have to send it in to have the slide cut for Novak Sights and to have the fame and slide hand fitted.

The plan is for no cosmetic changes other than adding a beavertail grip safety and extended mag release.

I will use a cylinder and slide trigger kit and a Kart EZ fit or EFK match barrel and bushing.

The goal is to come in less than $1500 total. I paid $600 for the gun so I have $900 left.

Well hell, you still have the gun right? It should be a shooter out of the box. I didn't even know Springfield was still making the hi-cap guns like this.

Maybe when I get around to getting a 1911 again, I will pick one of thse up. Add a beavertail to it and it'd be fine the way it is for me. smile.gif
